on deep intimacy, a well cultivated life, and being in good hands
Good afternoon and Happy Last Sunday of 2023!
woof-a-roni pizza —what a year.
Before diving in, I have a small ask…
I am currently working through my annual reflection and had a soft goal to get this NL to 50 subs.
We’ve grown a ton since the beginning of last year, and I am grateful for everyone who’s joined the journey thus far — if you have a friend who you think would enjoy or derive value from my writing, a share or forward would be greatly appreciated :)
Now, let’s get into the final study of 2023!
on deep love and intimacy
this tweet thread broke my heart. a great reality/perspective check.
“It’s what I’ve said above. We had an epic love affair, and yet we reached a depth of intimacy while Aubrie was on her deathbed that we’d never had access to before.”

I discovered another writer this weekend and loved the following reads:
Thank you
of for sharing your “wow’s” with the world.in good hands
a great post on a feeling I want to give and receive more of.
“When I am in good hands I open myself to a state of curiosity and appreciation. I allow myself to suspend preconceived notions. I give you freedom to take me where you want to go. I immerse myself in your worldview and pause judgement.”
(h/t greg for sharing)

I went to a concert by myself last night and it deeply moved and inspired me. Rick Maguire, of the band Pile, put on a solo performance at Mohawk that completely blew my mind.
Using loops, a floor midi board, keys, a guitar, and 3 amps — he completely filled out the room with immense, delicate sound. It was an intimate show with contemplative lyrics that captivated my mind and soul the whole time.
I felt a deep presence — I felt in good hands. Thank you, Rick.
Here are a few songs that I’ve had on repeat:
Thank you to my friend Hagy for sharing this band with me.
quote i’m chewing going into 2024
“Nobody stumbles into a well lived life. It has to be cultivated. Reflection and review are critical."

updates from anthony
I am about 3/4’s through my 2023 review and 2024 projection.
I am building upon last year’s framework, and am excited to share more with you all soon. At a high level, this year has truly been amazing. Visualizing the year on a whiteboard is humbling; reminiscing on all the relationships, music, conversations, travel, and learnings has overwhelmed me with gratitude.
The biggest takeaway for me thus far is seeing that throughout all the randomness and chaos the world will inevitably throw at you, you can build and live a life of intention.
As always, if you’ve made it this far, thank you.
