V2 of the A/V study: bangin' tunes and angry young people
Good afternoon folks,
Happy Sunday!
Not much to report on this past week. Like the first Dune…mostly build.
Most notably:
first land deal for this next planting season has been sent via docusign
the ABP 20-class challenge has been completed! And we are almost halfway through 75-medium
I did not win the year membership :( but I did get a t-shirt :)
i’ve been trying to practice ‘noticing’ and ‘ gratitude’ on my morning/post-lunch walks.
had a lovely dinner with friends in their new space!
the band had a catch-up call this weekend…and it went unexpectedly well…stay tuned ;)
As alluded to last week, the theme of this study is Audio-Visual in the following categories:
my current Aussie rock obsessions
anger amongst the youth
Let’s dive in!
AUSTRALIAN HEAT
One of my favorite things from Psych Fest last weekend was meeting other gizz-heads in the crowd who complimented me on my shirt — subsequently sharing our experiences of seeing them live and bonding over a shared love of the band.
But don’t worry…this section is NOT about them! Below are other rock legends and bands on the come-up that you should listen to:
Courtney Barnett
Ant’s recs:
Over Everything (ft. Kurt Vile)
Psychedelic Porn Crumpets
Ant’s recs:
These New South Whales
Ant’s recs:
Beddy Rays

hat tips and honorable mentions
h/t to
and Jake M., for sharing the TNSW and Beddy Rays albums with me — been ripping them hard the past couple of weeks.h/m to Brock D. and Lily G. for also sharing great music with me the past week!
one of the best live albums I’ve heard (I don’t typically gravitate toward live versions, but this one is actually good)
Merlin Sheldrake has a brother?! and he makes MUSIC??
If you have any more great tunes you’ve been jammin’ to, hit reply/comment below to share them with me :)
young folks are angry (rightfully so)
the US system
Ant’s takeaways:
I highly recommend watching this video. Scott discusses many things that people have thought about, but have not said out loud. I appreciate his strong takes and candidness — it felt honest, it felt refreshing, and it gets me riled up.
Two questions I’m left with:
“Isn’t the point of higher-ed about taking unremarkable kids, and giving them a shot at being remarkable?”
“Do we love our children?”
the world (via a text)
A good friend shared with me a text he sent in his family group chat. I have been reflecting and thinking about it since. On the state of the world, on “the system,” on my own ignorance and privilege. He inspired me.
“I know I’m not going to change the world with a few words, but I can try to move the needle just a little”
And that’s all we can hope for, right? Moving the needle slowly, but surely, in a more positive direction every day through our thoughts and actions.
quotes I’m pondering
"A riot is the language of the unheard."
— Martin Luther King Jr.
"Indignation without action is impotent. Righteous anger without constructive direction is like a hot coal in your hand. It may injure you more than anyone else."
— Myles Munroe
As always, if you’ve made it this far, thank you.

AI conversations with..with…yourself?! :’)
(I got chills. this is kinda f*cking wild. So many things to think about.)
I am 3/4’s of the way through this podcast — it has been great, but I refrained from sharing this week due to having half-baked notes. However, this clip on truth/integrity stands alone. Good food for thought.)
