Just getting around to a couple of your letters - I love that quote by Ken Liu on telling your own personal story. I often pride myself on being able to enrich my own story while also /telling/ it in an interesting and funny ways. The way we are perceived is just as important to others as it is to ourselves.

I was telling my 'origin story' the other day to a someone I had just met, when he interrupted me in the middle and offered a change.

"It wasn't luck -- you created that. Own it." He told me to be more confident. It caught me off guard, but I really appreciated it. I've been wanting to write a post about it but have not found the words, but your last line hits the nail on the head:

"The way we are perceived is just as important to others as it is to ourselves."

When I get around to it...that will be included.
